REGISTRATION FORM (CLICK HERE)

All applicants must be an amateur (you may never have competed for money). If you have participated in a competition that offered money to the winners, but did not win any yourself, you no longer qualify as an amateur. Example: tough man competition. You must be a certified police officer, fire fighter, or volunteer fire fighter. You must live or work for a department located in Illinois.

*Fighters are divided by age, weight, height and skill level. Bouts will be three 3-minute rounds.

*Ages are 19-29, 30-35 and 36-up. If you are in the over 36 category, you may only fight someone within 5 years older than your own age. No one over 36 will be allowed to fight someone 35 or less.

*Weight is done by weight class or catch weight. A catch weight is a weight that is mutually agreed upon by the participants that may fall just outside one category. Below are regulated weight classes:

  • Featherweight 136-145
  • Lightweight 146-155
  • Welterweight 156-170
  • Middleweight 171-185
  • Light Heavyweight 186-205
  • Heavyweight 205-229
  • Super Heavyweight 230 and up

*We attempt to match all fighters within 3" of their height. If there is more than a 3" height difference, fighters are given the option to decline the match.

*We will need to know your skill level in each of your respective training areas to match you as close as possible to someone of your equal skill level. You will be matched by your initial skill level. You have the ability to increase that level throughout the estimated 3 months of training. This will depend on your time, dedication and training.

*We make all attempts to match fighters as close to weight, height, age and skill level as much as possible.

Not everyone that registers will get a match. We will have approximately 10-12 bouts.
Members of BATTLE OF THE SHIELD do not participate in any of the judging or scoring of the fights, the night of the event. The online registration you fill out is not a guaranteed application to fight. It is only an application to register. You will not fill out Application forms until you have been matched with an equal opponent and selected for the event.

If you are interested in participating in this year’s BATTLE OF THE SHIELD, fill out the on-line registration. Please make sure you include your e-mail address and a complete mailing address.
